Chrome Extension (Clone+ for Chrome)

Clone+ for Chrome is a Chrome extension that brings Clone+ to your browser: clip text and images, summarize pages with AI, and create memos.

Setup

1. Install the Clone+ for Chrome extension
2. A connection page opens automatically - sign in (if you are already signed in to Clone+ on the web, just press "Link")

To clip text

1. Select text on any web page
2. Right-click and choose "Save to Clone+"
3. The selection is saved as a memo with the page title and the source URL

To clip an image

1. Right-click an image on any web page
2. Choose "Save image to Clone+" (Up to 10 MB; JPEG / PNG / GIF / WebP / HEIC. Some images cannot be fetched due to site restrictions)

To summarize a page with AI

1. Click the Clone+ toolbar icon → "Summarize this page" (or right-click the page → "Summarize this page (review before saving)")
2. AI summarizes the page and shows it as a draft in the memo form of the side panel (nothing is saved yet)
3. Review it, edit if needed, then press "Save" to store it as a memo ("Discard" throws the draft away)

• If you have text selected, only the selection is summarized
• YouTube videos are summarized from their transcript
• Summaries count toward your AI usage meter (even if you do not save them)

To create a new memo

Open the Clone+ toolbar icon and write a title and body right there.

When you press "Save", the form empties right away and the save continues in the background (it finishes even if you close the side panel). If it cannot be saved, what you wrote comes back to the form along with the reason. If you have already started writing something else, it is not replaced - press "Put it back" when you want it. If the save fails while the side panel is closed, you get a notification, and your text is waiting when you open that tab.

To add tags

Type a tag in the "Tags (optional)" field below the body and press Enter or a comma to confirm it. Remove one with the x on its chip, or press Backspace while the field is empty (up to 20 tags per memo, 60 characters each). The same field is available when you save an AI summary draft. Tags are shared with the app, so you can find the memo from the app's tag list once it syncs.

• Only the tags you add yourself are saved - the extension never adds tags on its own. Clips made from the right-click menu (text and images) do not go through the field, so they have no tags.

Saved memos sync to all your devices. Available on both Free and Premium (AI summaries are subject to usage limits).

Notes

• If saving fails and a connection notice appears, click the notification to reconnect
• Line breaks in the selected text may be collapsed into spaces (a Chrome limitation)

Chat with your memos in the Chat tab

In the "Chat" tab at the top of the side panel, the AI automatically searches your saved memos and uses them to answer your questions. Turn on "Use this page" to also ground answers in the web page you have open. Open "Referenced" under a reply to see which memos the AI used (with relevance and matched excerpts) and click one to open it in the Clone+ web app. Use "New chat" to reset the conversation (chat counts toward the AI usage meter).

On YouTube video pages, the video captions are used instead of the page text (if the video has no captions, the page content is used; for long videos only the beginning of the captions is used).

• For the AI page summary, open "Specify a focus (optional)" and write how you want it summarized (up to 200 characters). Leave it empty for a standard summary. Summaries started from the right-click menu are always standard summaries.

The side panel's input is kept per tab

The memo fields (title, body, tags, focus) and the AI summary draft are kept separately for each browser tab. Switching tabs swaps what the fields show, and coming back to a tab brings your unfinished text with it (the page a memo belongs to is shown above the fields). A summary is delivered to the tab it was started from, so a summary finishing while you look at another tab never rewrites what you are typing. Saving clears only that tab's fields.

• If a summary arrives while you have unfinished text, it is not dropped in. "A summary for this page is ready." appears instead, and it is inserted when you press "Apply".
• The fields are kept only temporarily. Reloading the extension or restarting the browser clears them.

Closing a tab while it is being summarized

A confirmation dialog appears (the browser skips it if you have never clicked on that page). Even if you close the tab, the summary still finishes and is kept under "Summaries from closed pages" in the side panel. Press "Apply" to load it into the fields, then review and save it (it is never inserted on its own).
