Enhancing Notes with AI

AI features available in the note editor to enhance your content quality.

To improve a note with AI

1. Tap the 🧠 button in the note editor toolbar
2. Select a feature:

• Title generation: Suggest a title from body text
• Summary: Condense the body text
• Tag suggestions: Suggest relevant tags
• Related note suggestions: Find related notes. The AI decides which relationship applies (supports / contradicts / extends / analogizes / applies to / evolves) and lists the candidates it could read first. The rest are folded together as "weaker candidates" (open it to see them as before). When you create a link from a suggestion, the confirmation dialog opens with that relationship already selected - keep it or pick another. "Why you connected them" is left empty and the AI's take is shown below for reference only: that field is where you write in your own words, so the AI's text is never saved there. The field shows a question that matches the relationship you picked (for "contradicts", "Do these really not fit together?")
• Atomic notes: AI splits the memo into the smallest indivisible units of thought, following the Zettelkasten method. Create each candidate individually or all at once. The original memo stays and each atomic note is automatically linked back to it. Tick the checkbox to archive the original and inherit only relevant existing links to each atomic note. Available on Free (an ad plays once the AI quota is exceeded; Premium has no ads).

To import content with AI

1. Tap the ✦ button in the note list
2. Select a feature:

• URL summary: Summarize URL content into a note
• Text extraction (OCR): Extract text from an image (mobile only)

※ Features that send your note's content to AI (title generation, summary, tag suggestions, related notes, atomic notes) ask for confirmation first. The content is sent only when you choose Run. URL summary and text extraction (OCR) do not send note content, so no confirmation is shown.

※ View past AI results from the 🧠 button → "History".

※ Results from summary, URL summary, and text extraction (OCR) can be brought in with "Append to note" on the result screen; they go to the end of the body (the same works for past results opened from "Where this note came from"). If the note already has text, a horizontal rule is inserted first; in an empty note the result goes in as is. The cursor is left at the end, so you can keep writing in your own words. For URL summaries, the URL is also added to the reference URLs. Text read from images or PDFs is inserted as a quote, so "#" or "-" in the original material does not turn into headings or lists. To revert, press undo (↩) in the toolbar once.

About images in memos

When you save a memo, AI reads any images you pasted into it and records the text they contain and what they show. Chat and quiz generation can then take image content into account (whiteboard photos, document screenshots, diagrams, and so on).

※ Only newly pasted images are analyzed; images already in existing memos are not. ※ Image content is sent to AI services. ※ This analysis does not count toward your AI usage.

• URL summary accepts an optional "focus" (up to 200 characters). Write something like "only the recipe", "only the ranking" or "focus on the cost" and the summary prioritizes it. Leave it empty for a standard summary. If the page does not cover your focus, a standard summary is created and you are told so.

Note: The AI features in the 🧠 menu run in the background. You can keep using the app while they run, and they finish even if you close the note. When they are done, a notice appears at the bottom of the screen and you can apply the result from "View result". While one is running, a dot appears on the 🧠 button, and opening the 🧠 menu shows what is running. The result never rewrites what you are writing on its own — applying it is always your choice. Only URL summary and text extraction started from the ✦ button (which create a new note) still ask you to wait, because the note is created after the summary comes back.
