Protected Notes
A place to keep notes you do not want sent to AI, separated from your regular notes.
The rule for this area
Notes kept here are never sent to AI. They are not used for chat answers, for links between notes, or for learning questions. They also do not appear in your regular note list or search.
To write a new protected note
- Open "Protected Notes" from the menu
- Tap the "+" at the bottom right to write the note (in a desktop browser, click the input field above the list)
It is saved as a protected note from the start, so there is nothing to move afterwards.
To protect a note
- Open the menu at the top right of a note in the list
- Choose "Make protected"
- Read what it tells you, then choose "Protect"
Protecting a note removes its links to other notes. Content already sent to AI cannot be recalled.
To see your protected notes
Open "Protected Notes" from the menu. You can sort them and search within this area. Search covers tags as well as the title and body.
Tags used here also appear in the tag list. Following a tag from there shows them alongside your regular notes, with a lock mark on the protected ones.
To remove protection
Select a note in the protected list and choose "Remove protection." It becomes a regular note again, and from that point on its content will be sent to AI.
How they are stored
When stored in the cloud, the body, title, and tags are encrypted. On your device they are stored unencrypted, like any other note, so that you can read them offline. The safety of the device itself rests on your device lock and its own encryption.

What is not available here
- Inserting images (images are stored separately from the body, so the encryption does not cover them)
- AI title generation, AI features, and related-note suggestions
- Links to other notes
- Voice input (available only on iPhone and iPad, and only when the device can transcribe entirely on its own. Not available on Android or in browsers, to avoid the possibility of what you say leaving the device)
